Sipping Sustainably: Navigating climate change in the drinks industry
Rui Pedro Silva, Director of Sustainability and Process Engineering at Cork Supply, recently engaged in a WSET Webinar.
In collaboration with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), the Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR) kicked off the new 'WSET Industry Talks Series' with a panel discussion on Climate Action.
In this webinar, the panel discussed the realities of climate change and how it is affecting the drinks industry, what their organisations are doing to address these realities, and how can other organisations practically advance their sustainability agenda. Industry-wide collaboration was highlighted as the key enabler to deliver the transformation of the drinks industry towards sustainability and only through action will we achieve meaningful change.
In addition to Rui Pedro Silva, Sustainability and Process Engineering Director at Cork Supply, the panel featured Tom Owtram (general manager at SWR) who had the pleasure of moderating this panel of industry experts that included Michelle Bouffard DipWSET, sommelier, author and founder of Tasting Climate Change, Ruth King, program manager of Sustainable Winegrowing British Columbia and Annabel Thomas, CEO of Nc' cool distillery.
